Do i have to take off the reservoir cap??

My brother depress my brake lever when there is no wheel on it. So right now, the left side piston is sticking out a bit. the rotor rubbing is not that bad, just some noise but not really slowing the wheel down. I have the new XTR brake, so do i have to take off the reservoir cap to push the piston back or can i just push it back w/o taking off the cap??thanks

Remove the wheel and pry both pads back with something like a plastic tire lever. Pry them back as far as they will go, insert wheel and re-adjust. No you don't have to take the cap off.
