    Disc Conversion Recommendations

OK go easy on me here, new to this!! I have a 2003 Hardtail Diamondback (fairly stock) that I truly like, and wish to install disc brakes on. Please help me with some positive suggestions (I.E. Brand, hydraulic or cable, modifications, etc) I have the mechanical skill, just not the "general product knowledge" I need for this. ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Riding style is off-road mixed dual and single track, see lots of mud (In Belgium), and a little pavement. I ride typically 20-50 miles per week. Thanks in advance, Brad

Is your bike ready for disks.....

Both your frame and fork need to have tabs for mounting disks. (Probably do if 2003)
Then your rims need to be ready to mount rotors. If not, you need new wheelset, not an insignificant purchase.
    If you're OK so far:
AVID mechanicals are very well perceived in the reviews section on this site. They will work with existing V-brake levers very important if you have shifter/brake combo levers.
Good hydraulic brakes are made by Hope (England), Magura (Germany) and Formula (Italy) Check the reviews section on this site.
Disk brakes will definitely improve your stopping power in mud
