    Did i break my brake?

    hi.. i took a hard crash that bent my brake lever and now when i apply force it stops for a second then the caliper opens up even when fully pressed.... hayes mag (stock brakes off a 2007 session 7) the brakes are old i know but money is tight and i like them...any ideas?

    Sounds like you may have fluid blowing past the master cylinder piston. I have seen it a couple times, once from a ton of use and again after an ugly crash. The piston asembly can be replaced, take it into a shop or get in touch with Hayes, either should be able to get it repaired.

    i was going to bleed it but i figured i woul ask...
    is this what you are talking about ? or should i get a new Master Cylinder? Hayes HFX-MAG, -9, Sole Master Cylinder Aluminum Piston | eBay

    Looks like that should get you done. I would see if you can find the complete guts assembly, easier to install and replace all of the internal bits, may be something else damaged that just the piston kit won't replace.
