    Deore XT with goodridge hoses.

I have a set of the new servo wave xt brakes with 7" rotors which I really liked up until I put a pair of Hope mini's with the 6" floating rotors onto my singlespeed. The minis beat the living daylights out of the bigger xt's. The main difference that I see is that the minis have braided hoses on them. If I was to fit braided hoses to the xt's would it make them signifigantly stronger or is it more cosmetic?

    Thanks sanspeur.

There's more to it than the hoses. Although braided hoses do add a little firmness to the lever feel, especially on a long hose length, it's not going to create a night and day difference. You may just prefer the feel of the Hopes, or the Shimanos may need a bleed or have the reach adjusted. It could be any number of things.

    Thanks...

I didn't think that they would make all that much difference. I had hoped though. Looks like I will be looking into some larger hope brakes for the big bike.

    Thanks sanspeur
