    Cutting Hope SS brake line

    Hi,

I purchased a set of Hope Tech V2's for a build and after mounting the brakes I noticed the the rear line was about 20cm too long. I went to hopes website watched a few videos, but the video's were a little vague and I'm still green as far as building goes. My first question.

What is the ideal length for brake lines/cables on a freeride hardtail?

What is the best way to cut Stainless line? Would a park CN-10 work?

Can the compression olive and needle on the existing line be reused or do I have to purchase a kit?

You will need a new olive and insert. Standard cable/outer cutters work fine.

Cable length is all about having enough but keeping it clean. Check out some pictures of finished hardtails in the AM forum to get a visual.

You can reuse the olive and needle on Hope kits, no need for a new one. I used Park cable cutters. Nice and clean.

Just use a pair of needle nose with the ends taped and lightly squeeze. Tightening the nut will compress the rest. Just be careful not to gouge the olive while removing or instaling.
