    converting to disk brakes

Iím working with the following bike and would like to upgrade to disk brakes...

I got this bike before I started any riding and then found out that I like X/C riding. The only change I made so far is getting knobby tires for it, but now I would like to upgrade the brakes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for brakes? Iím starting to ride some fairly steep stuff and the rim brakes just arenít cutting it anymore. Iím 6í1Ē and 155lbs.

Also, what else would I need to get besides the brakes themselves? Are the hubs on this bike disk brake ready? Thanks for any help.

trolling? you'll spend about 1/2 the cost of the whole bike on disc brakes. Not including new wheels and the frame doesn't look like it can take discs.

    new bike time.

    Don't do it -
    You'll need
    the brakes ~$80
    cables ~20
    wheels ~120
    cassette & spacer ~20-30
    **Disc-brake frame adapter~$20
    so, that's about $260 for a $300 bike

**EDIT - nice catch mnigro about the frame
    Honestly... ahh I give up

You're better off saving for a new bike. Adding disc brakes will add up fast. Ride that bike till you sell it. Good luck
