New question here. Converting from 6" to 8" rotors

I have a Hayes HFX-9 brake system on my Fisher 29er. Due to the larger wheel size, the 6" rotors don't provide the stopping power I want (they feel no more powerful than the V brakes on my 26" wheeled hardtail). What is involved in converting the system to 8" rotors? How much weight will this add and what is the approximate cost?

New adapter and larger rotors. Figure 15$ each here

    Rotors are 32$ at Jensonusa

Weight? whole setup without adapter is about 530g
