    compatibility question - xtr calipers

My Anthem X 29er currently has Avid Elixir brakes with Clean Sweep X rotors. Front is 140mm and Rear 185mm (as stamped on the internal section of the Clean Sweep).

I plan on changing the levers and calipers to XTR M985.

Q1: Will the Clean Sweep Rotors be ok with the XTR calipers or will I need to change to Shimano rotors?

Q2: If I go to Shimano rotors, which would you recommend?

Same question here. I have multiple wheel sets with Avid Cleansweep Rotors and would like to keep them with some XTR brakes.

It's fine to use the Avid rotors. Although one of the better features of the XTR brakes is the ice tech rotors so you may want to give them a shot any way. The other thing I'll mention is that I've set up a few bikes with shimano brakes on Avid rotors and they didn't seam to have the same stopping power they did with Shimano rotors. Might have been a new vs. old issue or a heat treat difference between brands. It worked but I wouldn't say it was 100% ideal, more like 85.

Front is 140mm? Are you sure?

I've used Avid CSG3s with XTR 985 Race brakes. It works nicely. The CSG3 is the same stamping as the Avid XX, so I'm sure it will work. XTR centerlocks are just so darn heavy.

    thanks team for the advice

I think that I will go with new rotors (ice tech) to complete the picture.
