Changing Rotors fom 185mm to 180mm

I have Shimano Alivio brakes that have a 185mm front. Can I put a Hope 180mm rotor in its place?

Are you sure they are 185mm? Shimano only sells 160/180/203mm rotors. Avid is the only company I'm aware of that uses 185mm rotors.

But if it is a 185mm rotor, you can put a 180mm rotor, but have to either modify (file down) the caliper mounting bracket, or buy a new caliper mounting bracket.

Can I put 183mm instead? It's only 2 darn mm. The Giant website says the front are 185mm, could they be wrong?
