    Changing Pads on Julie's

So my friend got new pads for his Magura Julie's and when we installed them they were so tight we couldn’t get the rotor between the 2 pads. Normally on my XT's I just gently spread the pads and compress the calipers. On the Julie’s they kept going back. Are there any tricks to changing the pads on these things? Thanks for any help.

Pistons retracted sufficient for me by gently pressing the pads in. You might have to open up the reservoir to provide more room for fluid expansion. The Julie reservoir is ventilated, so the fluid should just squirt out if there is excess in there, but perhaps that vent hole is blocked? (small pin hole on top of reservoir).
