    Broke in brakes wrong?

I have juicy 7 brakes (love em) on a new-to-me bike, and the pads were contaminated and the rotors were too small.

    So new rotors and pads.

    I broke them in.

From what I've read I seem to have made the mistake of slamming to a stop first, and then doing the whole gradual slow down. I did about ten of each.

Now, the squeak and don't stop.

First, why would stupid brakes be so finicky?

But seriously, is there anything I can do?
I just spent almost 70 bucks on just one rotor and pad set.

Lightly "sand" pads. Clean rotors with iso alcohol and/or lighty scruff with steel wool.

to safely achieve optimal results, remain seated on
the bike during the entire bed-in procedure.
    1. Accelerate the bike to a moderate speed
(approximately 19 kilometers or 12 miles per
hour), then firmly apply the brakes until you are
at walking speed. Repeat approximately twenty
    times.
    2. Accelerate the bike to a faster speed
(approximately 32 kilometers or 20 miles per
hour). Then very firmly and suddenly apply the
brakes until you are at walking speed. Repeat
    approximately ten times.
important: do not lock up the wheels at any point
    during the bed-in procedure.
    3. Allow the brakes to cool prior to any additional
    riding.
this concludes the disc brake pad and rotor bed-in
    procedure.
my 2 cents allow time for the rotors to cool between each application of the brakes.

    They're "Avids"

Also check that all the mounting bolts are tight.
Did you tension the rotor bolts evenly in a "star fashion"? not around in a circle.

Avids - a very idiotically designed system.

Thanks though. Ill clean em like you said. I knew you could do that when they get contaminated but didnt know whether it worked in this instance.

    Thanks
