I am building a new mountain bike with a MC Fury frame. my old bike has an Avid BB7 back brake. Was thinking of either taking the BB7 off the old bike and using it and just buying another BB7 for the front, or just go straight to hydraulic brakes. I never used hydraulic brakes, so I have no idea which is better. I found a set of front and rear Avid Elixir 1 hydraulic brakes for about $110 on I loved the BB7 on my old bike. can someone please explain the difference between the two. And which one is better? Any input would be appreciated. I ride XC-all mountain, no DH or FR.

This is very simple. Some people love BB7s and some people hate them (probably because they can't adjust them properly). Since you loved it on your old bike I would recommend you transfer it to your new bike and to get another one for the front. There isn't another brake out there that will perform as reliably for as long as the BB7.
