    Brake Vibration - 29er

Maybe this is a dumb question, but is it normal to have a minimal amount of front brake vibration? Specifically with 29ers. It is something that I never noticed before on my 29er but started noticing it more in the last little while. There are no issues with the headset or fork. I have checked the rotors as well as lightly sanded the pads. Everything has been cleaned. I am running SLX brakes with a 100mm Fox fork. Is this normal?

It is not usual. Try this.

Flip your bike over, spin the wheels.

If your rotors are warped, that is when you will feel the brake vibrating.
Get a new set of rotors. A decent set off Amazon will run you $20-30, but you might be spending more if you compete. Link

Are the brakes rubbing? As mentioned above, check to see if your rotors are warped. If they are, you can try to true them yourself. There are various threads about how to do so.

Also, check to see if the caliper is out of alignment. The disc should be centered to the caliper.

ROThe rotors seem fine. Took everything apart and reassembled. Could it be the caliper itself?

Experiment time: Go out for a spin down the block and hit the rear brake. Once the vibration kicks in, carefully reach behind you and grab hold of the seat stay. If the vibration stops or decreases significantly, the brake ain't the issue, but a symptom of something else.

I had vibration with Fox forks but it stopped when I switched to Rockshox. Could be the mounting tabs on your fork, or a misaligned caliper, or contaminated pads, or a warped rotor.
