    brake squeal-solution?

I was wondering... this might be a stupid question...

Could I use the same stuff on Avid BB7s that I have to silence automotive brakes? It is a goo that you put on the back of the pads when installing. Is damps the vibration that causes high pitched brake squeal. I figured it is worth a try, but maybe someone else has tried and could tell me whether it is worth it.

    Thanks

    Jamie

I would not do that. It could gum up the piston mechanism that pushes the brake pad out. On your BB7 they are not sealed up the way they are on an automotive setup.
There is a disc brake faq that offers various solutions. http://www.mtbr.com/techtalks/brakes/brakesfaq.shtml

It's most likely that the pads have been contaminated by oil. A couple of seconds over a open flame until smoke stops coming out should fix em.
