brake noise at high speed - not squeal

from the spec sheet for my specialized pitch-

Avid Elixir 5 R SL, hydraulic disc, tool-less reach adj., alloy backed organic pads, G3 Clean Sweep rotor, 185mm

while cruising down a paved hill, i had to brake for a car and my rear brake produced a very loud obnoxious noise. It almost sounded like my tire had started hitting the frame,(recently my rear QR axle dislodged and this happened, i thought it was the same at first) its a very low repetative'ish noise. I pulled over and flipped the bike upside. spinning the rear wheel around the brake was def rubbing in one spot but i dont think the rotor is warped or anything.

    could this be the pads?

When the QR dislodged did you check over the bike for damage? its very possible the rotor was bent when this happened and is now creating this noise. When applying brake can you detect any pulsating through the lever or is it smooth??

I really dont think anything is bent, it only happens on random occasions, prob on 5% of the hard brake moments. Ive checked and re-checked the rotor, if there is any warp it is not noticeable to the eye.

the noise is pretty freaking loud, but not a sqeal. more of a wooommmmpppp. as i said, more along the lines of a loud tire rubbing than a brake sqeal.

I cannot recreate the noise by trying, but i have noticed it happening in similar situations (one point on the trail it has happened multiple times), on semi rough terrain when going into a turn, there is obviously something im doing or the bike is doing to cause it.

    it just sounds terrible though

Did you look for rub marks on your frame?
