    Brake conversion question

    Hey All,

I'm new to the MTB game so forgive me if this is an easy question...

I'm looking at buying a 2004 Stumpjumper FSR with v-brakes. I currently have a 08' rockhopper with disc brakes. Is it possible to do a brake swap and put the disc on the Stumpy? If so, what additional parts do I need?

    Thanks!

    Mike

I would assume not possible unless you get somebody to fab/weld a rear PM/IS caliper mount. The front is possible with a newer fork with caliper mount...not sure if you can swap over the fork on your rockhopper to the stumpy.

Should be fine - you gotta migrate the wheels over too of course

I would be swapping the forks, so it looks like the front is doable...back is a no?

Is this the exact bike that you have?

Specialized Bicycle Components : 04 Stumpjumper FSR

If so, according to the picture, the frame does have the caliper mount in the back. If it's the same fork as well, it also looks like it is disc brake ready as well. It could be possible the wheelset is disc ready as well.
