    Better brake pad for Hayes???

I've got two sets of Hayes brakes, an OEM hydraulic and the bargain basement HMX-1 mehanicals. Both suffer from the same problem...they are weak. It takes white knuckles to have a chance of an endo. In contrast, my Avid mech's or standard V's will lock the front end up pronto. Should I be looking at another pad material???

I took it to a big hill, got up some speed downhill and braked real hard, leaning back. Then I let it cool, and did the same thing again. Did it 5 times and they stop great and no longer squeel. Worked for me.

Now after a few miles of break-in they s_ck...almost like the pad material got glazed. I'll try your suggestion.
