    Best cables for V brakes.

    Hi there,

Am in the process of building up a bike out of the spare parts in the shed. I have some XT levers and Avid arch rival brakes and am wondering what the best cables to use are. Jagwires and Avid flak jackets are on the shortlist, any other opinions?

both those are good. IIRC, the avid's are rebranded jagwire brand. if it's just the cables, any stainless cable is good.

It not just the cables...but good cmpressionless housing that makes a huge difference. The Avid stuff is good for this...not the best but other options are often 2x the price.

Are Nokon cables a pain in the ass to setup or is their only negative the higher cost?

Nokons are a bit too axpensive for my tastes, will go for the Jagwires methinks. The compressionless housing is a must as the rear cable guides are loops not stops and so full housing is the go. I've tried to find inserts for the loops without much success. The jagwire importer in Australia doesn't bring them in. Boooo!
