Avid BB7's. Not overly expensive, and quite possibly the best mechanical disc brake.

Or if you are on a tight budget, you could get the BB5's, but they only have 1 side pad adjustment.

I'd say BB7's for the mechanicals.

As far as mechanical disc brakes, BB7. End of story.

    Avid's BB7 MTB. Period.

Still don't understand why they don't spec bikes with cheap mech... Just put some BB7 or good hydro. Cheap mech are just a total turn off on a stock bike.

Brakesets are so cheap now, you can go with BB7 mechanical for $100-150/set or a hydro set bottom line but still phenomenal braking power for $100-150/set.

    Just to be redundant

Avid BB7 with Avid Speed Dial 7 levers is hands down, the best combination for mechanical disc brakes. There is just no comparison to others.

    We can see that!!!

I have a set of BB7s I could sell fairly cheap if you want...
I have 2 calipers with SpeedDial 7 levers and some extra cables & housing that I won't be using any time soon, might as well make some room! You can PM me if you're interested.
