Avid Ultimates w/ Shimano XTR levers...

Got a great set (f&r) of Avid Ultimate brakes for Xmas...haven't got around to installing them yet...

I have an opportunity to get XTR levers for CHEAP, so do these work with the Avids, or are there some pull issues? I'd like to have the Avid Ultimate levers, but I can get the XTRs for about 20% of the Avid price...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Dan, unless I am missing something you are good to go. I have used XT levers for over a year with Avid SD-Ti's with no problem. I also know that Trek spec'd the XTR dual shift/brake lever combo with the ultimates on the 2004 Fuel 100. So you are fine to use them.

XTR levers are fine. They aren't as chi-chi as the Avid Ultimate levers and are a bit harder to adjust modulation but sounds like the price is right. Be sure to pull out the plastic block from the modulation dial and set it for as much grab as you like.
