Are Avid Single Digit 7 v-brakes front or rear specific?

Howdy! Quick question for the brake gurus:

I notice that Avid now specifies "front" or "rear" on the packaging for their Single Digit 7 v-brakes. The brakes look exactly the same to me, however. Also- their SD 5's don't specify placement on the bike.

So- Is there something different between the "front" and "rear" SD 7's that I am missing or is it just some weird selling strategy?

    Any insight appreciated!

The arms are the same, the noodle may be different. The pads will be on the other way around as the rear brakes are behind the seat stay and the front brakes are in front of the fork, so the arrow on the pads will be pointed different directions.

Does anyone know about this for sure?

it's all in the pad direction. they are not specific for front or rear. new, they come with two noodles/brake. a 130 & 90 degree bend, use whichever gives you the best cable run.
