Avid rear brake mount work with Shimano brake?

Will my Avid IS rear brake mount for 160mm work with a Shimano M785 brake or will I need to purchase the Shimano mount?

Just dawned on me that there may be some tiny difference that would make the brands not work with each other so figured I better check.

    Thanks!

It'll work but don't use Avid CPS washers with your Shimano brake.

So ditch the cps bolts & use what comes with the Shimano brake.

I met today who said he worked in a bike shop & said I'd need a Shimano mount. His friend was on BB7s & he was on Shimano so that reminded me to ask.

    Thanks!

There could be bracket/caliper interference. Otherwise it will work. If you have both the Avid bracket and the Shimano caliper, try it.

I haven't purchased the brakes yet otherwise I'd tried it out. The 160mm IS mount was the one thing I wasn't thinking about until now. I kind of thought it'd work since it is an International Standard but then recently thought "I better double-check".

    Get the brake.
Try it on the Avid bracket.
If there is interference, get a Shimano bracket.

It should work. Pretty standard. My front brake is slx with avid mount adapter. No problem at all. Rear mount should be standard as well, perhaps just need minor adjustment.
