avid elixir 7 - closed system?

My elixir brakes have that adjustable lever position. But this position seems to move depending on fluid temperature (volume increase with temperature). As soon as i start using the brakes heavily, the lever moves outward, away from a comfortable position. One more reason to ditch them... well, does that mean they are a closed system?

Yes, that means closed system to me.

Maybe the master cylinder piston is not returning all the way when the brake is released. This could leave the compensating port (if equipped) covered/closed. But, if this were the case, it seems to me that when the hot expanding fluid pushes the brake lever out then the master cylinder compensating port would be opened.

If the master cyl has a compensating port maybe it is plugged.

Hope you get your brake fixed.
