    Avid Disc brake maintenance

I have Avid juicy 5 brake and I have trouble with maintenance. The Pads don't come out and go in easily and they always seem to be out of adjustment after I clean them. They are also worn out on the edges. To preplace them costs a steep price so I think I have probably done a poor job with keeping them maintained. How can I keep them clean and tight without fiddling with adjustments?

Why are you cleaning the pads? If they aren't giving you problems before cleaning, don't mess with them.

Push the pistons all the way back into their bores before you remove the pads. Do this by using a flathead between the pads. Rock it back and forth until the pads are flush with the caliper.

If the pads show uneven wear, it usually means that caliper is not alligned correctly.
