I have a set if M765 XT discs......thu are in need of a bleeding. Is there an alternative to buying the Shimano branded mineral oil. Looking for something a bit cheaper.

magura blood is probably your best bet.

whatever you do, dont even consider using the Mineral oil you find at your local drug store, its not the same product, not even close.

I believe that the Pentosin CHF 7.1 is no longer available as it has been replaced by CHF+, which is better for low temperatures. This is LHM "Liquide Hydraulique Mineral" as developed by Citroen for their famous hydraulic lift cars. Rolls Royce adapted the system and you can still get some from a RR parts dept. There are aviation grades but only available in vast quantities. VW/Audi and BMW use LHM in their power steering systems but I don't think this would work due to the various additives they put in.

I like the looks of the Finish Line product since it comes in a reasonable size. The Pentosin came in a large volume container which one person could never use up so we would just parcel it out in smaller containers to who ever needed it.

You gotta find others uses if you buy the Pentosin. I use it to lube everything from door hinges, pivots, mice, and any stuff that moves. A little black salt and pepper for salad dressing. No more KY Jellly while lovin' the wife of doing some self lovin'? Don't despair, Pentosin is there. Need a massage, use Pentosin. Frying some eggs and don't want the added calories of lard? Use Pentosin.
