Aligning BB7 calipers with the dished mounting washers

I just removed, cleaned, and reinstalled a set of BB7 brakes on my older bike. I was surprised to see that the mounting bolts which mount the caliper to the adapter bracket utilized dished washers to allow the rotor to pivot perpendicular to the bike direction.

While it's always nice to have more adjustments, I have no idea how to align the caliper correctly. Do you do it visually? Trial and error? Is there a better way to align it?
I live with fear and danger every day. And on the weekends she lets me go mountain biking.

Have a read of the BB7 Installation and Setup Guide.

    I hadn't! Thanks!

And good thing I did. The mounting process is very different from how I thought it was done.
