Adding fluid to Elixir 3s ?

I don't have the brakes in front of me so I can't recall what the master looks like. Is there a way to add fluid to Elixirs without a syringe? I don't have one for some reason. I gave my buddy my Elixir 3s, and I had the LBS lengthen the hose because I didn't want to buy a bleed kit. Brakes worked fine for 4 rides. He flipped the bike up on its rear wheel to get it through the house and he says the rear lever went to the bar. When the bike is level the lever works correctly after a few pumps. I assume its a little short of fluid and grabbing air. Can I add a little DOT or should I take it to the LBS? I can bleed brakes but I'm not willing to buy a bleed kit. thanks

No. You need to bleed them with a syringe.

Brakes need to be bled periodically as part of preventive maintenance. There are three choices. Buy a bleed kit, have the shop do it for you, or endure substandard performance.
