New question here. IS adapter mounting bolt issue

I ran into a bolt issue when installing disc brakes on my "older" bike:

The Shimano set came with adapter mounting bolts that have washers on them. The washers do not come off easily. The mounts on my frame are sunk so that the washers will not fit. The head of the bolt would fit fine.

    Ideas?
    - break the washers (with what)?
    - wait until shops open on Monday and see if a LBS has different bolts?

Can you not swap the bolts from your other bike if it doesn't have the same type of recess?

Other bike has same kind of bolts...
But I went looking for bolts on the bike: stem and LX crank bolts were perfect but the washers would not fit in those places either. Same thing with brake lever mounting bolts ...
    just a moment ... brake lever bolts ... >>>

The bolts from the old Deore mechanical brake levers continue their service, at least for now.

if you have a home depot, they carry a good selection of bolts including M6X1" allen that you need. mine sells it for like 20 cents apiece but they rust.

The bolts I found (the Deore brake lever bolts) seem OK, I'll just keep an eye on them for a while.

I have bike shops, hardware stores, and even a fastener specialist in town... so, I can find bolts OK, except on a Sunday...

This was only my second brake install and I had a bolt related issue the first time too: I needed longer bolts to get the adapter on a Marzocchi (20mm through axle) fork.
