    Adapter for Marzocchi X-fly Z2 QR20

I have a y2k era Marzocchi X-fly Z2 QR20 , and while I think I understand the deal with adapters a little better this one is a bit odd... its got an IS adapter on it already, that the original caliper was bolted to, but the way it is attached to the fork does not appear to be standard post mount.

I'm looking to attach a Hope v4 with 203mm rotor (though I'd settle for 183) , I'm not sure if I just get an IS adapter and chain together adapters or perhaps this isn't doable without access to a cnc ...

Disc brake adapters for old marzocchi forks 48mm

    Looks like I'm SOL??

Well, or maybe just stuck with a 160 setup ... i'm I'm really lucky and that is how things work... which may well rule out the v4s

So, situation seems to be worse than I thought, while it resembles IS from photos both the front adapter on the fork and the rear frame tabs are 44mm apart, which I think is an old Formula sizing...

Is there anything I can do to put modern brakes on this bike?
Its a y2k zaskar with the oddity that it had a qr20 front fork (from the store, I didn't know I was buying anything weird until later...)
Or do I just need a whole new bike?

When measuring the hole distances you measure from the center of one hole to the center of the other hole.

    FS / Formula Standard = 48.55mm
    IS / International Standard = 51mm

Marzocchi had QR20 brake mounts on some forks too, they are basically IS mounts that are placed in a different position on the forks. The QR20 brake adapters look the same as IS adapters but they are about 5mm wider.

Post some photos of the fork mounts and the adapter that you have.

Thanks cobba, I seem to have read wrong information (or more likely read it wrong), I'll re-measure and post photos tonight. You may be helping to save my bike =].

It would be cool to get photos / specs together and make a WU on standard, defunct and odd disk brake mounts

If the center to center measurement of the brake mount holes is 51mm then you have IS (International Standard) brake mounts.

If you want to put PM (Post Mount) brake calipers onto your bike then you'll need to get IS to PM adapters of the appropriate size for the front and rear.

If you want to use Hope adapters you'll need the following.
Hope 'B' adapter is for 203mm front rotor or a 183mm rear rotor
Hope 'G' adapter is for 203mm rear rotor
Hope 'J' adapter is for 183mm front rotor

Other brands of IS to PM adapters will work as long as the match the rotor size you're using and they are for the appropriate end (front or rear).

Cool, so my only reservation left is whether it would be safe/wise to put an adapter on the front, essentially having an adapter connected to another adapter...

There will be no problem in attaching a IS to PM adapter to the fork's bolt on IS mount.
