    2012 xt lever length?

If anyone has the new 2012 xt brakes, can you measure and post up the lever length for me, from pivot to end? I know the new levers are shorter, more for 1 finger braking, but i want to know if they'll work for me and my barbaric 2 finger braking. Thanks.

For me at least, its about 1.5 fingers wide, maybe a tad more. You can get two on there for sure, but its far more suited and comfortable for 1 finger.

I have the 2012 SLX which I believe is the same length. It measures 75mm from pivot to the tip and 45mm where the fingers can comfortably fit (including the angled lever end).

For what it's worth, I use two fingers. My second finger is partially on the angled part of the lever but it is comfortable.

thanks, from what ive seen slx and xt do have the same length levers. Do you have the master cyclinder mounted right against the grip, to move the lever over enough for 2 finger braking?

75mm is the same lever length as the XTR Trail brakes also.

You'll need the brake lever clamp to be pressed right up against the handlebar grip if you intend to use two finger braking.

Yes, I have it next to the grip. I did that partially because I like two fingers and also because I couldn't figure out any other comfortable way to use the dual-release shifter I always wanted to try out how other people set it up, but I set it up to be more conducive to my index finger (with occasional thumb shifting, but that's usually to get my index finger out of the way in case I might need to brake).

Its roughly 2 inches of useable lever (which I consider where the initial bend stops and flattens out), give or take a hair. The pivot in the lever, which you can't see in the picture as its black on black, its about 3 inches to the tip.

    Hope that helps.
