2005 Shimano M965 hydraulic shifters and brakes
Looking at upgrading my brakes to the 2005 XTR. Do these brakes still have sticky piston as noted by MANY reviews???
Also, I'm thikning of running the same brakes with two wheels sets. Rhyno Lite on Deores as a training set, and XT on 717 as my race wheel. How easy is the adjustment after wheel switching?? I obviously need two set of rotors
The sticky piston problem afflicted the first few batches of M965 calipers. Running changes were made to the rioll back seals and the problem has been gone for a long time.
I have two sets of 2004 XTR disc brakes, ones set on my HT and the other on my FS and neither has this problem.
They're great brakes, powerful and excellent modulation and feel.
Use the Metal pads not the crappy resin ones supplied..
That is definitely good news. What about swapping wheelsets on the same bike though?? Can I simply swap the wheels without bleeding the system if I used XTR rotors on both wheels???

But someone suggested a cool idea and to toss some spacers between the rotor and hub if you have such an issue. Then you wont have to worry about adjusting them every time you switch.
