    2005 Juicy 7 vs 2008 Juicy 7

I was looking for some Juicy 7's and I found some new old stock 2005 ones for $30-$40 cheaper than the 2008 ones. Is there any difference other than maybe the rotors?

    The rotors will be different.

The 2005 uses a one-piece clamp. The 2008 uses a two-piece clamp. The 2008 has a aluminum knob rather than a plastic one. The 2008 is lighter.

The caliper is the same other than the color.

Thanks. Is it safe to say there was no functional improvement.

The rotors on the new one are better. They're less likely to make noise.

It's easier to remove your controls with the two piece clamp.

I broke the plastic knob off my lever on the 05. I haven't had that same problem with the aluminum one.

    It's lighter.

    But... they work the same.

I had 05 Juicy 7's on one bike. 08 Juicy 7's on another. I had to bleed the 08 front brake about six moths ago, so I threw the front 05 brake on that bike so I could ride. So I have been riding that bike with the 08 rear brake and the 05 front brake. Rather than switch the brakes back after bleeding the 08 front, I installed it on the other bike and I have been riding that bike with the 05 rear and the 08 front. I can tell no difference between the 05 and 08. There is no difference in the amount of noise they make, no difference in the braking power. If it was me, I would grab the 05's.
