so I just picked up a BMC Superstoke 01 demo bike to try out for 2 weeks.
official BMC site
I got it from my friends at Trisports.com (don't judge a book by its cover here. They have acccess to BMC mountain bikes among others. Just ask for Nik)
Model: superstroke 01
Wheels: DTswiss 340 series
Tires: Nevegal 2.3
Rear Shock: Fox AVA series
Drivetrain: Shimano LX/XT combo
Thoroughly burly yet light looking. Very heavy machine aesthetic. Finickly detailed. Very clean.
Weight: 33.1lbs w/o pedals
Size: 19" see website for preliminary measurements
So i have this bike now. Looking for something to replace my old trusty but antiquated bullit. Hoping for something with a more active suspension, lighter weight, better braking performance and that fits me better.
Initially I purchased my bullit with geometry to match what I knew, which of course dated back the mid eighties and Ritchey geometry, which was great for me on my Singlespeed and hardtails and even my Turner XC bike but with the bullit it was too large. Felt like I could never get on the bike always fighting to find a balance between the wheels. On drops I felt too far forward on descents too far back. Just too many too's.
So I plan to give this bike a proper sorting here in Tucson. I will shake it out on Fantasy Island, a know entity to me since 1997, and then off to Starr Pass and golden gate, possibly some 50year or Reddington are thrown in as well.
Anyone interested in seeing or giving it a whirl let me know or meet me at the trails
