Will frame only be available in the US? Timing on first frames? US MSRP on the XX1 version and frame only?

Cool video, and didn't even need "star" power nor crazy-epic scenery. Let the bike sell itself. The specs speak for themselves...

Can't wait to see availability on frames...

this looks like a very very nice bike. I hope I can test ride one soon. Or should I say "Damn you BMC, now there is one more bike I want so much!"

the geo is on every site
abp is a bit like DWL generation 1 or 2. Not so close to the current. Pretty close to Giant maestro or banshee KS link

This bike looks dialed and close what I was hoping Ibis or Pivot would build.

Wonder what the Frame $ is?? Cant be $5K

Any updates on when this bike will be available ion the US? Frame only option? Alloy version? This bike looks like it really ticks all the right boxes (at least on paper); surprised there is not more talk of it...

Surely you jest. That would be over $5400!!!! for frame only???!!!

If that is the case, I'm glad they don't make an XL.

The frame is actually $5000 USD here in the states so you're better off buying a complete. They run fairly big so depending on how tall you are, a large might work. For instance, the reach on the L Trailfox is actually a bit longer than the reach on an XXL Tallboy LTc and the TT is about the same as an XL.

    Oh, $5000. That's more like it :)

Yea, I tested a XXL LTc and own a TBc. Santa Cruz runs small and even the XXL LT is a little short for me. That thing is the bomb though and I was riding through the rocks and trying to pick the roughest lines and it was just eating up everything. I have a feeling the new Trailfox would be similar. I just can't see shelling out that much for just a frame. That is way out there when compared to all the others...even Spech which I thought was high.

Listing the model number on the frame is nothing more than bragging rigths for whoever buys the most expensive model. Personally I shy away from manufacturers who does it that way. Tacky is what it is.

That being said, the trailfoxes look great on paper and I really want to try one out.

It is available now for ordering at BMC retailer bike shops. Alloy version is TF03. I had a chance to demo it when the BMC truck made its rounds around the area in the past few months: definitely an awesome but PRICEY bike (the TF01 with XX1 MSRP $8K which is the one I tried, with XTR near $12K)! Great 29er and much too fun!

    I have one on order.

I plan on puting a Pike on it instead of a fox. Since the pike is shorter, do you guys think i should go with the 160mm version ?

The 160mm Pike totally ROCKs on this bike. I would not have any reservations about making that switch...

    Thanks rushtrack

I just talked with one of the engineers at BMC, and his advice was to go 150mm "since they have the same height..."

    But then Specialized, on the Enduro29, replaced a 150mm F34 by a 160mm Pike...

The TF-01 sure is pricey -either frame only or full build option. So, has anyone heard from dealers as to whether or not one can buy the TF-02 or TF-03 frames? The web site only shows a TF-01 frame option. The TF-02 is carbon/alloy. I assume that the front triangle is the carbon part. Can anyone confirm? Thanks,
  • 01-22-2014
    20.100 FR
yep, the front triangle is in carbon, rear aluminium

i've not heard of frame only TF2 and 3.
But then the tf2 trailcrew slx is not too expensive.

The geometry of the TF01 says that the fork is 562mm and Pike DP 150 is 563mm therefore I think it is perfect fit.

Is that yours? What size is it? Seems like a M...

Can you tell me something about the feel of the geometry? When I look at the numbers the headset seems te be so short. Doesnt it feel like your weight is to much to the front?

    More pictures? Changed crank? :)

Could this be the perfect trail/am 29'er combination?

    - Short chain stay
    - Stout fork
    - Anti squat sus
    - Long travel

Seems to be getting very positive reviews, will be interesting to see how it fares within the Enduro Compare-O, but OMG that price!

I was riding this bike recently and I love it. I was searching for reviews and found many positive but one quite negative at bikemag. Anyway, I am waiting for TF01 size L.

What they say does not match what I have felt. I am quite tall 6`5 and also tested Enduro 29 XL and what they say matches what I have felt with this bike.

    BMC Trailfox TF01 29

    .

I'm kinda surprised to read bikemag's review, stating the TF01's rear end is too active on climbs, and requires lots of compression damping (apparently to minimize pedal bob): that feedback is typical for bikes without much anti-squat (ie Spec Enduro 29), but usually not what most riders report for bikes with anti-squat designs (ie DW link, Maestro, VPP, CVA, etc).

Also not consistent with reviews from sicklines, or mtbr's own "Enduro compare-o".

Makes me wonder if bikemag's TF01 test whip wasnt set up correctly, or if their reviewer is more accustomed to riding hardtails or short-travel XC race bikes with rear ends optimized for hyper efficient pedaling...

Regardless, I agree w/ NullAndVoid--Trail Fox 29 has everything I want in a versatile bike that'll allow me to pedal up and down the kind of trails I like to ride (~17" chainstays, antisquat rear suspension, long travel, slack head angle).

Everything except it's stratospheric price tag ;^)

    regarding this review :
-they tested a size L, which have the same reach has an XL spe enduro. May be it was a bit big for them..
-the shock damping setup has been changed in october with more hydraulic resistance (and a more linear spring curve too). I don't know what version this testers had, but i know of another who didn't like the stock setup at launch too
-front tire doesn't have much grip, especially with a tube inside

I guess I'm on the BMC bandwagon now. Just picked up a TF01 that I'll be building up with a Pike and XX1. It's an amazing frame.

On my park hanging scale, as pictured it weighed 5 pounds 14 ounces. It's a small.

I'm waiting on the fork to arrive, but last night I installed the bottom bracket and did the internal routing of the brake line and cable housing. The online manual said there was supposed to be an internal foam tube for the housing to go through to reduce rattling, but I didn't get one. I may look into an aftermarket solution. Since the move to clutch style derailleurs and the death of chain slap I've gotten used to a nice quite bike. I don't want a bunch of banging around inside the frame.

    Rideable but not complete
I've finally got enough parts on the bike to ride it but the build is not complete. I've got some XC level parts on it that will be replaced with more durable AM parts. Specifically, a dropper post, wider/stiffer wheels and beefier tires. As it sits though (without the saddlebag but with pedals), according to my park hanging scale the weight is 25.5 lbs which is pretty impressive.

First ride will be today after work!
