160mm rear rotor - Speedfox SF02

Stock rotors are 185mm with the Elixir 3s

The bike is a 2012, owned and soon to be raced by a NorCal high school kid. We want to lighten it up a bit for XC racing with a weight weenie wheelset and downsize all rotors to 160mm. He weighs about 140lbs so 160s should be fine for most of his riding.

I took a quick look at the rear caliper mount and it appears that it does not have an adapter and that the caliper is mounted directly to the frame. Does anyone know if this frame will accomodate a 160mm rotor size and if so what specific adapter to get for the Elixer/160mm rotor combo?

If you could post a picture from the brake side that would help. If the caliper is mounted directly to the frame I'm not sure you can downsize the rotors, but I don't think that's the case.

Thanks tootall, nice find on the Avid spacer/bracket info.

As you can see from the image it looks like a CPS A Direct mount set of spacers being used for the 180mm (not 185) rotor. I don't think it's possible to go with a 160mm rotor but may bolt one on and remove the 2 lower washer/spacers to see if it will work. doubtful.

Yeah I'd say you're not going to be able to go to 160 rotors as those look like 180 post mounts. I don't think removing the CPS washers would make enough difference for the smaller rotors, bummer.
