Is the Collegiate West Alternative open to bikes?

    Hello,

I am doing my first effort on the Colorado Trail starting from Waterton Canyon at the end of July and into August (I'm finally committed with airline reservation and all!).

I'm basically going "as far as I can" in 8 days, with a goal of ending in Buena Vista.

If I arrive at the West Alternative split with a day or two to spare, I would like try the "Collegiate West Alternative" and then circle back around to BV.

Is this possible (allowed)? What is trail on that section like? Is it mostly rideable or mostly hike-a-bike?

    Thanks!
    CF

Nope, no bikes. It goes through a wilderness area.

I kind-of suspected that bikes were off limits, but didn't see anything to confirm that. Thanks - makes my planning easier!

Yeah, I was pretty excited at first too. Would have been very remote and beautiful.
