Border to Whitefish - how long for a fast pack trip?

Just starting my research with this post.

I grew up in the Columbia Falls so I have a general idea of the overall distance. But what is the terrain like and time to travel estimates for mid-July? I will be there for family stuff and would like to ride all or a substantial part of the Great Divide Trail route between the Eureka border post and Whitefish/Columbia Falls.

Thoughts on a quick 2-day trip? How far could a person make it in one 10hr day? (Border to Polebridge as an example)

Jumping the gun with this post prior to much research, thanks for any input.

Day 39 - to Roosville, Canada (FIN)

Not in detail, but this appears to indicate that I could make it in a day (light pack). 111miles and 13hrs, but that is from the border. If I start in Eureka or south of Eureka, then this is probably closer to 90. It appears that the route goes through the valleys more than over major passes or singletrack. Polebridge could be a good lunch and re-supply stop.

    Looks promising.

Definitely a day ride for lotsa people.

Really wanna make it an overnighter? Bring a fly rod and catch lunch, take a nap after, then ride a bit more and camp. More trout for breakfast, then finish it up the next afternoon.

Thanks for the good news. If I can get it to fly with the family I'll do the overnighter, otherwise it sounds like a longer day trip. I imagine through some great territory (that I haven't seen for 30 yrs).
