    When choosing a DH frame, what size would you ....

    choose compared to a AM or XC frame.

    My case:
    AM / XC= 18 or 19 inch frame
    DH= ???

    I know the size of bb to top of seat tube is how they are sized but that also dictates the effective top tube length. Can someone 6 foot ride say a 15.5" - 16" DH frame comfortably?

    Looking to build a DH rig and only want to do it once...Help

    Eff top tube does not matter much when talking about DH bikes. TT only comes into play when climbing, so it's not an important metric. Seat tube length is also not helpful.

    One way to fit a DH bike (without trying it out) is to ask similarly-sized owners of the bike what size they ride. Lots of bike companies also put recommended rider heights on their websites.
