    Vintage 6061 vs today's 6061

I have a Zaskar (1992) with 6061 frame. This was a premium frame back in the day, yet I now see Trek, GT and others are putting 6061 on entry level frames. How does it compare, has technology caught up or are they cutting corners somewhere?

The alloy is the same then and now. How the tubing is drawn and manipulated is different, also some brands considered 6061 a more premium tubing because it was more complicated to produce strong enough frames from since its a weaker alloy than anything else used in aluminium bike frames. Others only used it on cheaper models because there were better tubesets and alloys available.
I don't post to generate business for myself or make like I'm better than sliced bread
