Trek Fuel vs Giant Anthem
Trek Fuel 29er vs Giant Anthem. I'm leaning heavily toward the Fuel 29er. Any opinions?
If Giant would have updated the rear triangle on the Anthem X 29 to be as short in the chainstays as that of the Trance X 29, I would be more apt to recommend you give it a shot. Now that Giant is pulling out of the 29er scene and going nads deep on 27.5, I'm thinking that may never happen.
Get the Fuel. Take a peek in the giant forum. Look at the tread about anthems cracking.
Def. two different style bikes
The fuel is a better all rounder.
That seems to be regional and in a certain time period. It doesn't seem like an "Anthem" problem.

At equivalent prices more or less it is a toss up. The sizes do not compare directly but the Trek seat tube slightly more upright (+.6) and the head tube more laid out (-1.5) with .4 inch shorter chain stays. On average the Trek has a 1.5 inch longer Wheelbase which contributes to a bit slower steering.
That will make the Anthem a bit quicker steering but the Trek mores stable AM-wise. With the more laid out head tube angle and the shorter chain stays the Trek may be a marginally better climber.
Then you have to ask, better? These differences are pretty small. They are both more XC than AM, fitting right in with the Tallboy and the Stumpy 29ers. As far as the Trek being a better All-rounder? I don't see how one can say that.
Most of the parts are a wash.
Another thing to look at is dealer support/relationship. I betting that either bike will be huge fun.
Go for color?
That said, if someone posts asking this sort of question and has a preference they usually go with the preference anyhow.
