Trek Fuel EX 8 price drops

The 2009 was $2,700 msrp while the 2010 is $2,300.

Anyone know if they changed any of the components or if it is just because they needed to drop the price to sell more in this economy?

The wheels are not tubeless ready for '10. The rear shock is a little better, but these are the only two differences I find.

Yeah, the rims aren't tubeless ready, and as stated, the rear shock is a slight upgrade. The 2010 also gets an E2 headtube and Avid Elixers.

The picture of the Fuel Ex 8 on the Trek site if you zoom in on the wheels they have a TLR sticker on them.

Guess they can be set up tubeless.

So, it looks like improved rear shock, and new E2 headtube, better brakes, unless they've just renamed the Juicy 5 the Elixer 5, and for $300 less MSRP. Don't know how they do that, but this economy must be squeezing everybody.

It was $2,199.99 before taxes and $2,381.49 after taxes. I really didn't feel like haggling, but they did knock $100 off the price without having to ask for it.

Wow, great deal for a 2010. A LBS around me wouldn't go lower than $2,000 including taxes for a 2009 model.

That's what my local shop quoted me when I stopped in to see him about one. I bought my first road bike and second mountain bike from him, and barring some sort of killer deal from another dealer, probably the guy I'll buy this from once I get the cash set aside.

Although I figure I have to check out the Stumpjumper FSR's as well.

I paid $2200 from my LBS store as well for the '10 EX8. Duster rims and they are tubeless ready(thought the '09s were as well). Didnt haggle the price either, the LBS is awesome here and answers all my questions regarding anything. What's $50 off when you have a LBS that knows what they are doing and will help anytime. support local businesses.

The trek store in the neighboring town still had '09 models selling, on sale, for $2400. The rootbeer color is pretty nice tho.

You guys pretty much have the difference listed, brakes, E2, new fox shocks around(dual stage rear), duster wheels and a much easier price tag to swallow.

Don't forget in 2008 the EX 8 was around 2300... Prices jumped up for '09 but seemed to have come back down to '08 levels in 2010... which is a good thing

Unless you are unlucky enought o live in the UK like me... 2009 EX8 = 1750 RRP but 2010 EX8 = 2000 RRP

Guess this must be down to the dollar exchange rate? Harsh though when the US $ price has dropped $400 but the UK has done the opposite and gone up almost $400!

The 09's were priced when the cost of commodities and oil (think shipping) was sky high. When the global recession hit all of this came back down. The 2010 model pricing reflects their costs and probably a harder market to sell into.
