    Trek 3900 upgrade

I'm newbie and I recently bought Trek 3900 Disc. What's done - it's done. After about 200 kilometers of the offroad ride I realized that although this 18" frame fits me perfectly and I like the geometry, the brakes are terrible (Promax mech disc), rims are not for xc (single walled 26-er), and derailleurs are bad as well (Acera). So I'm looking for advice if it is wise to upgrade these components. Front suspension is also bad, but this would be plain stupid to upgrade. I don't want to sink money into the frame which is not worth upgrading. If you guys think that these three components (brakes, rims, deraillers/shifters) are worth upgrading and will make any noticeable difference (allow me to ride long distance xc) what should I look for?

I thought about used Avid BB7 in good shape, SLX derailleurs with deore shifters and have no idea about rims.

    Any recommendations?

Honestly, from what you said you're looking at about US$700+ to upgrade. Sell the bike and buy a higher end Trek (since it fits you well and you like the geometry). Get a Trek with SLX level (or better) stuff and a good fork.
