    Silly question..noob mtb

I have threaded headset with a quill stem and is stamped 25.4 on it which is 1" inch right? Does that mean the forks steerer tube is also 1" or 1 1/8"?

If your bike is a Cannondale it will say 1.5" headtube, if not, it is most likely a 1 1/8, as the latter is the standard size for steerer tubes.

As it says 25.4(1") which in fact the I.D. of the steerer tube, the O.D. of the tube is 1 1/8". That would be the measure you are looking for.
