    I'd go for disc brakes.

And the next question from gsxunv04 is probably going to be: Which bike fit the best? (Get that one. )

I have a wahoo disc and so far it has done great. I live in WNC so I have a lot of rooty and rocky downhill trails which I ride. I had to replace to stock saddle(pain in the arse, literally) but other than that it is good to go. I agree with tmosher, def. get a bike with disc brakes.
FWIW, my buddy has a rockhopper comp SL 29er, it is a sweet ride too.
