Riding 08 Stumpy FSR. Am I missing out on newer rides?

So I'm currently riding a 2008 Stumpjumper FSR. I got the frame only and specced out the rest of the build myself, all the way from the shocks to handlebars. It actually rides really well, and weighs in at about 25.5lbs which seems to me pretty competitive. Recently I test rode a few nice bikes at demos, a top of the line Santa Cruz Bronson and Pivot 5.7 Carbon were among my favorites (for obvious reasons).

I tested several other bikes but none seemed to stack up against my Stumpy compared to the Bronson and 5.7, though that may be because I'm well used to the Stumpy, or maybe it really just is that good.

My question here is, am I missing out riding an older frame compared to the newer 5.5 or 6 inch travel trail bikes coming on the market or is my Stumpy still considered to be fairly competitive? I love this bike, but I would like to know how different a newer ride would be, even if I'm not really in the market for a new one just yet.

    1) Are your racing professionally?

If yes, you are missing out.
If no, continue to question #2.

    2) Do you enjoy your bike?

If yes, then you are not missing out.
If no, you might be missing out (continue to #3).

    3) Have you tried 27.5" / 29" wheels and liked them better than 26?

If yes, you are not missing out, but maybe should try something new.
If no, you are not missing out. Shut up and ride.

Hopefully this choose your own adventure was helpful.
