    Raleigh Ram 3.0 2005

hi all, first post. same story as a lot of people, been looking for a first bike. i went to the lbs and found a raleigh RAM 3.0 2005 for $699. id like to get a fs bike because my back is pretty screwy. i'm going to go back tomorrow and test ride but i wanted to find some reviews on it first. there actually aren't too many reviews so i was wondering how raleigh bikes compared to some of the more popular names (trek, specialized, ibex). how are the components on this bike?

the guy at the lbs was very nice and convincing, i was almost sold on the spot but thought i'd give it a test ride first and check out some reviews. i'd appreciate any input from you guys! thanks in advance.

What kind of riding are you planning to do? If you are doing basic fire roads & some on road it is well spec'd. If you are doing XC, real MTB'ing then i would recomend something with disk brakes.

thanks dogonfr, i picked up the raleigh already tho. i was thinking about the ibex ignition too, but i really wanted a bike that i could test ride, especially since i haven't ridden in a while and i've never ridden a fs bike before. i was really impressed by the first test ride so i picked up the bike right there and then. we'll see how this bike fairs after a couple of months. i'm mainly using it for commuting to work and hitting friendly offroad trails. i can't wait to ride to work in the morning
