    New Bike Shopping

    Hello All,

    I have been riding a Gary Fisher X-Caliber for the past 5.5 years. My frame just broke, I never registered it, and the shop went out of business a couple years ago. So, no frame replacement Good news is, I am now shopping for a new bike! I live in SW Virginia and am looking for some advice on bike recommendations. I loved my 29er and am seriously considering another big-wheeled bike. I am also trying to pay around $1,500-$2,300. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    What about buying a really nice frame with that money and then just swapping over all the parts? Or spend roughly half on a frame and half on new wheels (or another part(s)) and swap over the rest of the parts.
    Mountain bikers who don't road ride have no legs...
    Road riders who don't mountain bike have no soul...

    I've thought about that, but it seemed like a good opportunity to get all new components. What would you recommend for frame/wheel combo?

    My recommendations wouldn't do much good haha I'm a 26" wheel guy at heart (although I want to get a big rim ride) and I'm also partial to rigid single speed But from what I have seen I reallllly like Niner's
    Mountain bikers who don't road ride have no legs...

    I would honestly buy a new frame and swap over the parts, though that Jamis Dragon is SEXY!!
