Definitely a good bike for the price. All the parts are solid entry-level components (with the possible exception of the front derailleur - if it underperforms at least it's a cheap upgrade). Enjoy.

not a bad deal at all. if your just getting into mountainbiking that would be a good bike to start on.

I had a 2004 Mesa and really liked that bike as a begginer bike. It's pretty nice handling, and I think that the GSD will have better components that what I had. It's a good choice you made!

I think that the frame is very good, it just depends on how much upgrading you're planning to do.

At that price, any big upgrades very likely will be more expensive than the bike.

the brake/shifter combo probably isnt the greatest but you could upgrade that pretty cheaply. i'd chuck the pedals though and get clipless or better platform pedals.

it's not a bad bike.. a few things i'd change.. it is a little on the heavy sid ebut I knew that.. I just wonder how good the fram ewould be if I was to drop more $$ into it... but it has a nice build and looks sharp..
