Loaner bike build.. best CHEAP frame?

Going to toss all my spares together and build up a loaner hardtail. Im aiming for cheap. Really cheap. Like $100 bucks for the frame.

I know theres a few out there from the online retailers. Is there a hidden gem cheapo frame out there? Ideally id like a nice, slack, steel frame, but my $100 goal kind of defeats that Aluminum XC type frames are fine, just wanted to see if anyone has input on any of them.

I have a 140mm fork that'll go down to whatever travel the frame works with, but im expecting it to be around 100. Anything in that range works though.

    Any suggestions?

Are you looking for 26? 29? What about those Access frames from Performance? Or Nashbar?

If it were me, I would just get something off of Craigslist.

    Agree
If you want XCish then Nashbar or access are cheap and decent but if you want slacker bike may be CL or pinkbike.

Ill see whats local used, as long as its a 1 1/8th HT it'll do, not going to be picky on this one. Buying a complete used bike didnt cross my mind for some reason

    Definitely 26 though.

Pricepoint. The Sette Reken frame is $89.
    Riding slowly since 1977.
