Jamis Dakar Expert Frame weight? Good for racing?

    Hey,
I'm looking for a new XC race bike and my shop has offered me sweet deals on the Jamis Dakar Expert and the Norco Team XC FS. I am very interested in the Jamis, but its a new brand to my City so noone really knows much about them. I was wondering approximately how much the frame weighs, and if itwould make a good race bike! thanks!

the jamis is a fine bike.

i bought the stock bike and stripped it down, rebuilt it with some slightly better stuff, and think it is a fine bike for xc racing. we weighed a xl frame in the shop and it was a tad over six pounds with a crappy scale. it is relatively light, has cartredge bearings, and should hold up fine. has that pro pedal shock and a lock out. feels really good pedaling, without a lot of bob. if you run it stock, it isn't the lightest bike in the world, but it isn't super expensive either. the pro model, which shares the same frame, comes in under 25 pounds. the expert is listed at 26.5 in a med, and i built mine up in a large right around 27 pounds. if you are trying to be a pro racer, it is heavy. but those guys put a lot more into their bikes (or are given a lot more bike). as for the way the design works, it is perfect for racing. it doesnt bob a bunch, locks out if you need it to, and handles really well. overall, it is a nice ride.
